Me and the Cloud

I have begun to explore the cloud fairly recently.  I did not have a Facebook account or internet at home until two years ago. I will say that it has become a fixture of my daily life, however. There are a couple of YouTube vlogs that I suscribe to (and anxiously await posts from) and I am always on Facebook. I have used the web to reunite with long-lost friends and adore how easy it is to stay in touch with people now. You can let multiple friends know what is going in your life or share a funny video with them instantly. When I graduated high school in 1994 it was hard to imagine being in touch with people in this way. I truly enjoy this new digital world. Now I can share pictures with my family and friends, and see what my high school sweetheart looks like now. I cannot imagine where we are going next... I also cannot wait to find out!

This is a world that seemed unthinkable only a few years ago. It also is hard to remember what it was like to function without this technology. It seems like I have always lived this way, though I know I haven't. The world my son is growing up in is one where the answer to a question is just a few clicks on a search engine away. Hopefully he will see just as much progress in his lifetime as I have seen in mine.

  1. I'm also curious (and a little scared!) about what technology will be available for my kids as they grow older. I agree that I can barely remember what it was like NOT to have the technology we have now (like Facebook), because it's so much a part of my everyday existence.

  2. Wow, our stories are fairly similar! I too was not into facebook until about two years ago and now I'm on it almost daily, making status updates and sharing pictures and videos with friends and family. It is just such an easy way to stay in touch!

  3. I agree that it feels like we have lived this way forever! It's hard to imagine going back to 5 or 10 years ago, and living the same way. If someone said "google it" to you 10 years ago, you might have taken it as an insult! Now, how many times a day do we say that?
