Lego Movie---disappointments

I’m about to bum some people out. Or make them angry. Or both.
Let me start with I really enjoyed the Lego movie. I did….
But not as much as I wanted to or should have.
There was a decided lack of diversity in the film.
I think there were like 10% female characters and like 3 black male legos. No black female legos…not just main characters…I’m talking crowd scenes, too.
Total.
POC, especially WOC, just didn’t exist. Unicorn kitties exist…but not POC.
And there’s no excuse for this…how hard is it to sprinkle in diversity using a computer program?
I know this was unintentional, that’s the point.
Our society keeps perceiving white male as the default…and that needs to stop.
 Especially in our cartoons.
Especially in anything aimed at our youth.
Anyone know a better way to articulate this?
A way to make me feel a little less disappointed in an otherwise brilliant and geeky movie?
